Alternatives to Piping a Message onto a Cake

Piping icing message onto your cake can sometimes be stressful, so I put together this video of unique alternatives to doing so! Supplies for each technique are as follows:

TECHNIQUE #1 -Baker's twine -Fabric ribbon or washi tape -Double-sided tape (for use with fabric ribbon) -Fabric scissors -Bamboo skewers or wooden cake dowels -Letter sticker

TECHNIQUE #2 -Fondant -All-vegetable shortening (white & solid) -Smooth rolling pin -Dusting pouch filled with cornstarch and/or powdered sugar -Plastic wrap -Parchment paper or flat silicone mat -Metal cookie cutter -Message press -Fondant stitching tool (optional) -Water and paintbrush (for attaching to cake)

TECHNIQUE #3 -Gum paste -All-vegetable shortening (white & solid) -Smooth rolling pin -Dusting pouch filled with cornstarch and/or powdered sugar -Plastic wrap -Parchment paper or flat silicone mat -Rolling fondant cutter and/or sharp knife -Black or Super Black Gel Paste Coloring -Small paint tray/dish -Fine paintbrush

TECHNIQUE #4 -Gum paste -All-vegetable shortening (white & solid) -Smooth rolling pin -Dusting pouch filled with cornstarch and/or powdered sugar -Plastic wrap -Parchment paper or flat silicone mat -Metal cookie cutter -Paper with text printed in your chosen font -Pencil -Black or Super Black Gel Paste Coloring -Small paint tray/dish -Fine paintbrush
